Hi folks,
I'd like to hear some testimonies from those of you who have tried the spinach and sunflower seed diet.
What meds?
What was the rest of your diet?
Results?
Thank you

Check it out. Scientifically it makes sense.
As is sunflower seeds =high vitamin E (anti inflammatory) + magnesium. Spinach = anti microbial and anti inflammatory

I ate spinach and sunflower butter every day for 3 weeks. During the same period of time I restarted Colocort hydrocortisone enemas. I got a bit better, but I think it was mostly the hydrocortisone. No dramatic improvement.
I found full grown spinach too harsh, so I bought fresh baby spinach, chopped and sauteed in olive oil, and then mixed in an omelette.
After 3 weeks, it's unclear to me that it helps.

That with uceris and azathioprine got me in remission.

Spinach sautéed with butter or in soup was a great help to my gut, I should start it again but slacked off due to husband not being a fan lol. I did not keep up with the sunflower seeds or sunbutter because fiber is not gut tolerated. So I did not vote since I only did half of the regimen.

Good to know Andrina.
I too have noticed a difference when eating spinach
I went to the keys for thanksgiving and had a fresh spinach salad with fresh caught snapper each night I was there and had 1 formed bowel movement each day. I was also taking my supplements but forgot my medicine (uceris) at home at the time!
I also noticed as the cfromutah stated that there is a perfect amount of spinach too eat.
Too much it does nothing too little the magnesium causes a laxative effect. For me it's just enough to turn my poop green

This took me out of a flare when I was off my Lialda. I think that was in the fall of 2012.
Had a really bad flare again in 2013, still off meds but not so lucky with the diet this time. Got a new GI doc who prescribed Rowasa plus Lialda. 3 tabs daily. Like most people I have a bad time with holding and took nearly 6 months to get back in remission.
This new flare that has started, I'm scared to try the diet again because this is the first time I'm experiencing terrible cramps and d.
I think it is the new subscription of (generic) Rowasa.
