I was curious about this one lingering fear I had...wouldn't drinking interfere with medications or worsen potential side-effects? I was told to be wary, but never to abstain. I work in the distilled spirits industry and my job revolves around drinking both socially and professionally so it's difficult for me to fathom a life of forced sobriety. However, if it comes in between me and my health - that's a no brainer.
So would alcohol potentially set my road to remission back, or would it be fine if I didn't overdo it? I'm looking for experienced feedback and not a medical opinion. I know everyone is different (no known food allergies or intolerences), so I will take what I read with a rim of salt...er grain...grain. :)
Some have an almost immediate bad allergic-like response, others have a delayed next morning is horrible response, others see no worsening of symptoms (like me). How it affects you, only trial-and-error will say.
Your Azathioprine is 100 percent metabolized by your liver. about
10 percent of your Lialda is processed by your liver. Your liver is busy handling your daily medications, so I'd be careful on repeated, heavy drinking. My opinion drinking occasionally or at least in moderation is fine, like a couple drinks a week, as you gotta live your life be social etc. Unless you have a horrible response to alcohol then it has an obvious conclusion for you.
