hi guys it's been a while since i've posted on here, have enjoyed almost three years of pretty much being symptom free. in 2010 they found a DALM (dysplasia associated lesion/mass) and told me i should have my colon removed since i was young and it could be an indication of underlying carcinoma. i opted for more frequent surveillance and since then everything has been good, no other polyps and all the biopsies have been clear. stayed on lialda for remission and worked great until february when my creatinine was about 1.4. they did an ultrasound of my kidneys and found what could be an indication of kidney damage but not conclusive. stopped the lialda (and occasional rectal meds) in february and had kidney function tests repeated in july. creatinine went down to 1.14 so they told me i could start rectal mesalamine/canasa twice a week in hopes of maintaining remission and with the thought that hopefully it'd be better for my kidneys. did kidney tests a month later and creatinine went back up to like 1.35. so they told me to stop again and come back in for a talk. i haven't been since been starting having blood on wiping, blood streaks on stool, and some abdominal cramping so guess the flare is coming back. weird though because i'm not really having any diarrhea. started isatis cooling and upped my turmeric in hopes of staving it off. as far as the next steps, i don't want to go on any biologics or systemic steroids. thought that maybe steroid enemas could help. any other options? i know most of the remission meds are of the 5ASA type like lialda so i don't think any of those would be an option. i'm still wondering if it's truly the 5ASA that are causing my creatinine to go up or if it's just weight lifting, being dehydrated, etc. sorry this turned out to be long, thanks for reading if you made it this far!
