Vitamin D suppositories/enemas

It is known that people with IBD are often deficient in Vitamin D.

Has anyone considered or tried using vitamin D rectally via an enema or as a suppository?

I am kind of excited to give this a try since topical vitamin D has been shown to have anti inflammatory effects in psoriasis.

I am going to add some vitamin D to my sfRowasa tonight and let you know, but just wondering if any of you guys have tried this or considered doing this.

Plenty of threads out there on Vit D enemas. Did them at one time.

I tried searching for Vitamin D enemas but only found Vitamin E enemas, did you do Vitamin E enemas or vitamin D enemas? They are very different vitamins!

You know how you read one thing and your mind tells you something else, lol. I have never tried D enema nor seen thread posted on it. I usually keep my D levels up pretty good this time of year.

So after 2 days of adding ~ 12,500 IU of Vitamin D to my nightly sfRowasa enemas it seems to significantly reduce the pain and makes my morning BM much more satisfying. Also, I am waking up with more energy and feeling overall less depressed, stressed out and anxiety. This seems to confirm my hypothesis that rectally administered Vitamin D activates Vitamin D receptors on the colonic epithelial cells, reducing inflammation.

I'm going to try this tonight. I think it wouldn't hurt.

DIY - at least for the enemas -

don't think the cap would release in the colon as a suppository - but easy enough to try :-)

whatever delivery method you try, if possible, use D3 -

and furthermore, for added effectiveness, point your .....uh ... naked behind toward the sun as you administer the enema/suppository turn
