Loose stool

Currently in a flare, with semi-loose stool. Blood is very minimal (mainly on tissue paper). Been on predfoam Enemas for 12 nights.. But with very little improvement (still going to the loo around 8 times a day). Would it be worthwhile trying a bulk forming agent?

Yes...start low dosage. I use metamucil capsules.
I would suggest you stop the cod liver oil for a bit.

Metamucil I think is an American medication? I'm from the UK so I think we have methylcellulose and ispaghula husk. Has anyone had any success with these and if so how many bowel movements have you reduced to?

No psyllium husk capsules at all there? Methylcellulose would be fine to try...is that benefibre? , havent checked into the other...off to google.

Well...seems the ispaghula is psyllium husk...caps are easy to add . Take one with breakfast for a few days. If all is good, add one to supper...etc

Brilliant, I guess I'll give it a try. Usually comes as sachets. How has the psyllium helped your bowel movements?

You can buy psyllium husk capsules from Holland and Barratt or any other health food shop.

They are more regular because i depend on that. I started when i had a very long flare with diarrhea. Helped immensely!

Update: day 14 predfoam enema and twice daily suppositories. Last night had 3 bowel motions which came out liquid. This morning however 2 bowel motions so far, both formed, and bulked. Only thing different I tried was increasing my vsl3 to 3 sachets. Also had fresh homemade yoghurt. Long may this continue.

+1 for the metamucial tablets.. They work great and help out bulking things up without feeling like your dragging a roll of sand paper out of you a**.

Just for fun try making nopal cactus leaf water... I'm on day 2 of this and have noticed some improvement, even over what the metamucial does.
It's 100% natural so chances of it bugging you or meds is low. Never know if you don't giver a go!
