No, no, no, not for me again!
I'm trying to get healthy, and kale salad WAS on my make at home list.
Si I gave it a shot!
I cleaned very well, dried it, cut it in itty bitty pieces.
I added apple vinegar, some light virgin oil, raw peeled apple chunks, a few pecans. It was quite delicious until a couple of hours later when I had runny forceful diarehhia episode, and was really scared of the worse!
Was I in a new flare after 6 mo of Apriso keeping me in balance?
I immediately responded by taking some kaopectate, 2 additional LIALDA pills, and a cup of peppermint tea.
Why does some of our bodies reject kale? Should I stay away forever?
I'm just starting to calm down now. I did not eat dinner for fear of starting the flare. Any advise?
I need to lose lots of pounds, and I find it hard as I have a fractured foot
in a big Herman Frankenstein boot!

Raw kale would be a problem for my gut too, probably due to the fiber since my gut dislikes raw fibrous veggies. But the vinegar would also provoke it. So now that you know it's a problem just don't eat raw kale.
Well cooked spinach is very loved by my gut and every day I take fiber pills, the generic version of Citrucel because that's the only kind it tolerates (hates Metamucil and psyllium seed kinds).
It is hard to lose weight while your foot is in a boot and healing that is priority.
Low carb, high veggie and protein is my way of losing weight (Atkins type diet).
To get good vitamins from kale and other veggies without the fiber try juicing. Either buy it at your local health food juice bar or make your own. Do not go overboard on green juice right away, start slow and let your gut adjust to it.

Even in remission, I have a hard time with raw fruits or veggies. It's possible too that the apples you ate could've caused some issues. Apples and apple juice are natural laxatives.

just the texture of kale seems like an issue
its very rough and bumpy and has a lot of fiber
I am glad you washed it well, because it is a very buggy leaf- look at it in the grocery store and you will almost always find tiny little bugs in those ridges- I once even found a tiny bug on my kale salad from a restaurant

our guts would probably be a lot happier if we ate MORE bugs -

Kale is well known to be difficult to digest. I juice veggies every day, and I always add Kale, as it is very nutritious, and it gives me no problems at all.

I should probably learn more about
juicing. It seems like a lot of work though!
I think I will stay away from kale for awhile.
Hummmm maybe someday make some kale oven chips.
I wonder if my colon would be happy with that.
A funny thing this disease is...when you get in remission you almost feel "normal" and you forget you can't eat certain things.
I ate a bunch of raw carrots yesterday also. Maybe all together it was a disaster waiting to happen. Raw kale, carrots,.
I've got to go back to basics again and remember the UC BOOGIE MAN is out there waiting for any slip up that will let him back in!
I'm better today thank God! But I am again aware and proactive!

Kale is my nemesis. I can't even have it juicing it and removing all the fiber. Kale is very rich in sulphur and you may be someone that is sensitive to sulphur. I have met a few UCers who can't have sulphur rich foods.
I starting taking Green tea extract to reduce sulphurs. It has greatly changed what I can eat.

Kale chips would be a killer for my gut, even worse than fresh kale because all the water is removed and now it's just a very sharp, fibrous assault weapon in my gut.
