How long for pred to work?

So had sigmoidoscopy Wednesday, I have pred suppositories and have now had 3 doses, however the blood is coming out in lumps a bit like raw liver (sorry about graphic description), however I am tempted to photograph to show my GP.
In the beginning it was just bright red now it's much darker and thicker, how long do pred suppositories start to work?
I am starting to get concerned or is this normal?
Any advice would be helpful.

this is thickened mucus and clotted blood.

I do not think steroid suppositories will fix this. DARK red comes from higher up where a suppository will not reach. they only do the rectum and maybe another cm or two.

On the scope, how high did the inflammation go?

Unfortunately I am awaiting results when the biopsies are looked at, I live in England so different system here. I am seeing GP on Monday and get some advice because I am getting quite worried about the colour and amount of blood because I'm on blood thinners. So I am chasing about at the moment trying to get answers thanks for the reply it is appreciated very much.

clots and blood thinners are an odd combination. good luck Monday.

Suppository only treats the rectum (where bright red blood comes from), anything higher up remains untreated (where you'd see darker red from). How far does your uc extend? If it's beyond the rectum, then a steroid enema or pill might be more effective.

That kind of blood is normal for me in a flare. Normally my dr will start me on 40mg of prednisone with no results so we go up to 60 usually with no results, so I go into the hospital for IV steroids which usually tend to start working after about 2-3 days. Good luck!

I got my results straight away (also England) whilst I was still lying on the bed!! So meds were tailored as to where the inflammation was. I know you will have to maybe wait a bit for biopsies but surely they could see on the sig where it was inflamed?? But Ye for me bright red blood has always been low down and dark red/clots has been higher up.
