Is Metamucil in powder form ok for flares? I'm flaring at the moment and ridiculously scared of eating anything because of the pain and guaranteed bloody diarrhoea. I loved using Metamucil when I was in remission but quit for awhile and whoopdy doo, I'm flaring again.
If you haven't taken fiber supplements for a while and you decide to start them again, there's the chance that extra gas and bloating will occur until your system adjusts to the fiber supplements...many get those issues so they stop cuz it makes their current flare less bearable to deal with. I pushed through it when I was flaring and started fiber supplements, it wasn't easy but I did it....just want to give you a heads up about
this, not everyone notices issues like excess gas and bloating from starting fiber supplements but for some it's quite painful on top of flaring.
Best to start with a small amount and increase your daily water intake.
