usually it's given for overactive bladder. The active is Solifenacin (side effects can be dry mouth, constipation, blurred vision, dry eyes, dry skin). May actually help your colitis if you experience runny stools. Many antispasmodics like hyoscine help with abdominal cramps. But these can also cause similar side effects to the above. But yes, solifenacin can be used long term, so long as you don't have any cardiac issues or any form of bowel obstruction.
