I adhere to a strict low residue diet during a flare. I limit veggies to canned green beans and carrots. Only soft, low fat, tender meats. Also no whole grains. Think white breads, pastas and rice. I'm in a lighter flare right now and it's mainly in the lower colon and I'm finding red meat and pork irritate me. I do fine with dairy but that seems to be individual.
Some sample meals.
Roasted chicken with lemon and potatoes (no skins)
Chicken noodle soup without onion
Turkey sandwiches/ turkey clubs and frozen French fries
Mashed potatoes
Pasta with olive oil
Eggs and egg sandwiches
Peanut butter
Oven baked Salmon and rice
Im not at all convinced that food causes a flare for me. I tried all of the diets and flared off gluten and dairy. I know for me that spicy food, even just a touch of Paprika, cayenne, red pepper, all give me diarrhea but I don't think contribute to flares.
I swear by low residue/low fiber while flaring and have gotten quite creative with recipes and happy to share if you like.
