My Apriso copay doubled!

I use Express scripts. Day off today so i called and asked about the price. Yep it went from 40.00 to 100.00 for 90 pills.

So i asked what else they have avail and here is the list at a better price:
Lialda
Asacol
Pentasa
Or delzicol

Are the all the same or?

It's not the price of the Apriso it's your Co-pay that has gone up but let's not let the facts get in the way of a Catchy Subject Line for a Thread.

Either go with a generic or different tiered med on your prescriptions drug formulary to get a reduced copay cost.

Does Apriso have a savings card? I know Lialda does as I pay $10/month with the card not the crappy $60/month Rx coverage. It may be worth looking into. My enema price went from $14 for 3 months to $240. Gotta love the affordable rates. Boo.

Asacol HD works better for me than Apriso did.

Yeah it blows. Not to mention I pay over $1000/month for this "fab" coverage. Ugh! Good luck with this whole situation.

I like Lialda, and there is a co-pay reduction card for people in USA.

Of course it depends on the amount of copay to begin with which varies by insurance.

I assume Expressscripts is the drug plan for your insurance? I am uncertain because you said "use" instead of "have".

But if your doc will write for one of the ones that has a better copay and/or the manufacturer has a co-pay reduction plan, there is often no problem in changing.

Some people report better results with only one brand, but many get benefit form several different mesalamines.

FYI: Apriso was developed by Salix Pharma in NC, which was sold last yr to a Canadian conglomerate that immediately raised the price of Colazal, the only 5-ASA that helps me 100%. So there is indeed a specific culprit behind the increase in co-pays for former Salix meds!!!!!!! (Alas.) / Old Hat (35 yrs with left-sided UC; presently in remission taking brandname Colazal)

I take Apriso and use their savings card. My co-pay would normally be $50, but I only pay $10 after the Salix discount card.

I personally have had much better results with the Apriso then Asacol or Asacol HD.

sheesh Today, I go for my full dose of Remicade. This entire past two weeks; I've been trying to get insurance approval for the infusions. Medicare has been paying the bulk of the cost for YEARS. Now they are refusing. I fully understand..I'm OLD and it's expensive! So, my wife, my doctor, and his super efficient staff member, and I, have been trying to find a way. The wonderful lady at my doctors' called two days ago and said one of my othere insurances agreed to pay for ONE YEAR, for a half dose. GREAT!!! Later that afternoon, she called us back and said...they will pay for the FULL DOSE!! There ARE some wonderful people out there who can help...just have to be fortunate enough to find them. I use Asacol. They all seem to be SO expensive.

I recently was switched to Apriso and my out of pocket was suppposed to be $460/month but I googled "Apriso savings card" which brought one up and now I pay $10 a month. So try googling and see if that finds one for you.
