Remicade and migraines

I had a remicade infusion ysterday morning and I have been having a terrible migraine since yesterday afternoon. I took tramadol twice yesterday but I have not taken any since because I am scared of dependency (I know I'm nuts)

Does anyone else get this from remicade?

I wouldn't say I have got migraines but after my first few (4 or 5?) infusions, I would get bad headaches usually the next two or three days afterwards. Then they would go away. I don't think I got one after my last infusion about 4 weeks ago though.

Thanks. I also feel dead tired like how I imagine a hangover to be like (never had one)
I don't recall such a big change in how I felt from any of my other infusions v

I've had a number of headaches after starting Remicade, but they seemed to settle out over the last year. However, after a flare last summer by GI upped my Remicade dosage and frequency to every 6 weeks. Now I've been suffer from awful headaches about a week after my infusion. Started keeping a journal for my Dr. They prescribed Sumatriptan, which did absolutely nothing for me.
2 Advil at the onset of a headache usually works. Occasionally I get a bad one where I take 1 or 2 Extra Strength Excedrin. NSAIDs are a NO-NO, try to use them as sparingly as possible.

Headaches are a common side-effect of Remicade.

So that excludes excedrin... For me

Have you tried an antihistamine? If you are having a reaction to the Remicade then an antihistamine might help your symptoms.

I didn't manage to take Benadryl because I got home very late and had to be up early in the am.

Thankfully it is now just mild pulsating and nothing like the thunderstorm going on a few days ago

Dikid,

I know that you are concerned about the drowsiness from Benadryl but there are other antihistamines that are non-drowsy and work just as well as Benadryl. I took a Claritin the other days when I was itchy from my Stelara shot, I had no drowsiness from it.

I just saw this thread...so sorry that you're dealing with this Dikid! Thanks to Keith telling me about the antihistamines for the horrid Humira headaches that I would get, it was the best advice I've gotten that actually works!

I take it before bed the days I do my shots and it works fantastic and it doesn't seem to interfere with waking up in the morning for me at least...I used to have these headaches last me up to 3 days at full strength the whole time and it was brutal to say the least.

I hope you find it helpful too!
