Refrigerating a Biologic - Simponi

Hi Friends,

I received my loading dose + 2 week dose of Simponi last night. I have an appointment with my GI on Monday to learn how to load the initial dose + learn how to self inject.

Is it ok if I keep the injectors in the refrigerator till them? Will they go bad? I have opened the packages.

BTW, how would I know if an injector has gone bad?

The answers to all of your questions are in the paperwork that came with the simponi. Also the pharmacist at the speciality mail order pharmacy should have went over most of this stuff with you.

You are supposed to keep the simponi in the fridge, I think it stays good for over 12 months. I've never had it go bad, I think it changes color or gets really cloudy.

My injectors always worked but they did have a recall on them a couple of years ago. I'm not sure what the problem was but they should have worked that out by now.

simponi has to be refrigerated and it doesn't go bad for a while. there is probably an expiration date on the box. i dont use the pens because i prefer syringes after dealing with the humira pens which were super painful. the syringes are no big deal.

i can see the medicine really easily through the syringe and ive never had a bad one. i started it in 2013 and the syringes always work perfectly as long as you know how to use them.
