Spent part of the day getting my Remicade infusion. I'm getting 800mg and was told by the nurse, that's the max. dosage. Does anyone else get different answers? When I left, all I wanted to do was get home and go to SLEEP!! I always feel that way, just SO tired; but don't know if it's the Remicade, or the quiet time in the infusion place. Did flop down into my recliner after talking with my wife a bit. Next thing I knew...our little dog was jumping in my lap wanting to PLAY. LOL So...went outside and threw a ball for the little monster. Guess I am just happy that my Remicade is working great and wanted to share with you guys. Remicade is dosed by weight. So depending on your weight you can get different amounts. For UC the typical dose is 5mg/kg for starting. Many end up doubling it to 10mg/kg.
There is even a small group who does 15mg/kg.
Standard dosing is every 8 weeks after loading but people do as little as every 4 weeks.
Glad the remicade is working and it's normal that it knocks you out after. Escpecially if you are premeditated with Benadryl.

If they give you benadryl as a pre-medication then it might make you sleepy. I use claritin as a pre-medication and I don't get sleepy. Any anti-histamine will do.

We've had a number of people say they get sleepy. I never do.
