HI guys, I just wanted to swing by and provide an update. I know there's often a lot of posts from pregnant ladies worried about
their ibd affecting their pregnancy and birth (myself included) and usually the posts we can reference are from people struggling and looking for help. Well, I'm here to say I stayed in remission the entire pregnancy, in fact, my bowels were the best they've been in years! It seemed to soothe my ibs and I could actually eat foods are be not been able to tolerate for ever!(salad, shred dies etc). No problem even after the antibiotics (from emergency c section, now t related to ibd), and I'm now 12 weeks post partem and still doing well. I stayed on my meds the entire time (pentasa) and was monitored closely by both GE and obgyn, but other than that, totally normal. Oh,and had a 9 pound baby, lol, no "ibd'ers are at risk for underweight or premie babies" here.
Obviously I can flare at any time, as we all can, but I'm so thankful to have had a normal pregnancy and not flare right after birth while struggling to care for a newborn.
Thought it might be nice to have a little good news around this place
