OH NO!!

Well it's been a while but I think I'm into a FLARE!

I was originally dia with UC in 2004/05. Got that flare under control and since have been in remission. A few speed bumps along the way but nothing major.

Posted a few weeks ago about dealing with constipation. Went to see my Dr. He scheduled a scope for me on May 5th. Had it done and after the scope he tells me all looks good "you're in Remission". My last 4 scopes have verified "Remission'.

OK...sounds good.
Having UC he does a few biopsies during the procedure and tells me to make an appointment for the follow up in 2 weeks.
I go to see him still complaining of constipation and he asked a few questions and said lets see what happens.

Then he drops the bomb on me.
Biop results shows NO signs of dysplasia (that's good) BUT bio shows : "Ascending Colon Chronic Colitis Active".
He said he "didn't see ANYTHING during the scope and don't worry about it. It's a small area I didn't even see".
So I ask him if it shows "Active" is it coming or going?
Again he says "don't worry about it".

Well.....I'm worried about it.
Still dealing with the con and not sure what I should do.

I will add this Dr has been excellent with me over the past years and has always been right on the money.

I take 3 caps of Colazol a day.
Thinking of upping the dose to the normal 9 a day which was my original dose.

Thoughts? (besides calling the Dr).

I second taking the full colazol dose.

No others signs but trying to hopefully get a hold on what may be happening.
The existing "symptom" (cons) is however exactly how my original "Flare" started. That's why I'm so concerned.

You don't mention if you are using a daily fiber pill to help constipation but that's something to consider. Lots of the non-UC world has C but it probably doesn't worry them as much as it does us.

Fiber is something my gut dislikes so I keep it low in my diet but having well-cooked spinach a couple times a week (not in a big quantity) plus healthy oils (olive, coconut) keeps constipation gone for me.
But your gut may be different and need more fiber in your daily diet.
Probiotics can also be a big help for constipation, you must've seen the ads about yogurt with live cultures keeping C down. Plus there are many, many probiotic pills and powders.

Not playing with semantics here but Dr never said he saw "Inflammation". He didn't see anything during the scope. All looked very good to him. It was the biopsy that showed "Active". Until those results came back all seemed perfect.
Again I do feel something is either coming or going.

I've increased my meds and do take Metamucil and a probiotic.
I'll just hope for the best and see where this goes. As we all know this is a day to day battle. A never ending war but hopefully I'll be able to pull through this episode.
