My diagnosis has changed from UC to CD

I will still come to this forum, just as a CD patient not as a UC patient
and while I am being mushy,
Thanks so much for always being here to support me through my craziness, venting, questions etc....

awwwwww you will be missed. Your responses were always very helpful to me. I am curious, how do they just switch diagnosis like that?

I actually was originally told I had CD and then they switched it to UC.

I was having symptoms (blood,abdominal pain) and crp was ok. Doc ordered CTE and came back with mild inflammation in small bowel.
But overall, the test wasn't good because the volumen prep stayed in my stomach and the intestines were mostly collapsed. They did a small bowel follow through on Friday and saw inflammation and nodes? Or something like that.

How did yours change?

You're always welcome here whether you have Cr or Ul at the beginning of your diagnosis. So, I take it the small bowel test came back, how far did the inflammation go in the small intestine?

The doc didn't tell me. I am going to speak to him again after my other tests come back, I can ask him at that point.

I second everyone else's comments about sticking around. No need to leave if you don't want to. Sorry to hear your diagnosis changed, but hopefully it will help you get your disease stabilized now that you know what you are dealing with.

I'm sure you're emotional about it, but please continue to contribute to the UC forum as many of us (myself included) have had pathological findings of UC and/or Crohn's.

So what was the result of your small bowel follow through?? On what basis did your MD diagnose Crohn's? How is your treatment going to differ?

The SBFT showed inflammation in the illeum and nodes or nodular something (can't remember exactly what)
They are going to see if the remicade levels are low and if antibodies. If low but no antibodies will likely increase frequency. If antibodies I will switch drugs.
If it's high, means it's failed me and will also switch.
Also doing a fecal Calpro (yay!)

No need to leave here permanently due to re-DX! Longtime member pb4 has Crohn's colitis but she hangs out here with us a lot of the time & shares valuable info + insights. I wish you good luck managing your inflammation with the changed clinical evidence, hoping it leads to more effective treatment. / Old Hat (35 yrs with left-sided UC; presently in remission taking brandname Colazal)

It's always better with a definitive diagnosis than not. I agree with all for you to venture back here to share and support as you always have...plus to keep us updated on how you're doing with your treatments.
