Diet is very, very personal. What works for one person does not for another.
When flaring many, many foods/drinks caused problems but once my gut calmed down due to really controlling what I ate yes some foods previously a problem are back in my food list. And some foods (like ice cream) that cause gas I choose to eat from time to time.
Yes social events can be tricky. I like to bring a food I like and can eat so I won't be tempted by chips or sodas. Eating at a restaurant is easier for me than dinner at someone's home where I can't avoid what they are serving.
Sweet tooth? I have one too but cutting down sugar is important. The less sugar I eat the less craving is there. Find a replacement that your gut tolerates. French fries or any kind of potato makes my gut happy and resistant starch is good for us. I also make toast with butter and low-sugar jelly as dessert with caffeine-free tea or coffee. Bring snacks that you like so you don't feel deprived. I make a fabulous carrot cake that no one knows is gluten-free and low sugar.
Life does get easier with diet modification but the beginning is hard. Keep a food journal to help you figure it out. Maybe you'll discover food/drink has no effect on you, that's important info too.
Alcohol: white wine and clear alcohol is fine for me but not red wine and fruit juice mixers are uh-oh. Other people report differently. Have fun trying diff. booze ha, in moderation of course. Beer? bad for me even before UC but you'll have to find out for yourself. Don't drink and drive or UC will be the least of your worries
