Prednisone

So I started Humira June 2. Gonna take my fourth dose this Friday. When started on it I was at 30 mg prednisone. Finally tapered to 2.5 mg and my symptoms came back ! Ugh. Called the GI doc and he said go back to 10 and do it every other day. I feel like ten is taking me back far enough that I'll have 3 more week doc tapering :(
I had a baby in April and have not had a chance to lose my baby weight bc I'm stuck on this drug. I thought the whole point of Humira was to get me off of them so why am I having these symptoms ? Maybe I should have just toughed out the cramping and not go back up on prednisone.

Sounds like the Pred taper was too fast. Based on my personal experience, the advice to increase is reasonable. I know it's disappointing. Whenever I'm on Pred, I'm eager to get off ASAP.

It's uncertain how long it'll take for Humira to kick in for you and whether it will even work for you. You are doing the right thing, in my opinion.

Lots of commentary here about the evils of Pred. But it has saved me time and again, as I have had to transition my UC maintenance drugs (and unfortunately I needed it to recover from effects of some drugs I couldn't tolerate.) My own approach has been very slow Pred tapering, especially under 10mg if I've been on Pred for a while. The result for me is that I've had no withdrawal symptoms and it has bought time to see if the new medication will work in my system.

There are different opinions about this in our forum. It's a very individual decision. I'm just saying what has worked for me.
