"How long can you be prescribed Predisol enema for?" It's a type of corticosteroid meant for rescuing you from the worst of your uc symptoms. Steroids are one of the most effective drugs that are available for uc, but carry short term side effects, and over the long term it includes irreversible side effects.
How long should you use them? For as short a timeframe as possible and as infrequently as possible. You're newly diagnosed and the predisol seems to be working. So, at this point I wouldn't rush yourself off of something that's working, especially with an up coming vacation. You will, however, need an exit plan from steroids. I do think you should be adding a mesalamine oral (lialda, pentasa, asacol, apriso, etc) and rectal route (rowasa, pentasa, or salofalk enemas or a mesalamine suppository) for tge purpose of becoming your long-term maintenance medications. That is typically done while you're still on steroids. Once those medications have been given sufficient time to work, you can remove the predisol and control your symptoms without it.
I'd call your gastroenterologist and ask what the post-predisol plans are for maintaining your uc. Suggest adding an anti-inflammatory mesalamine.
