I'd love to and be in a huge debt... same with UB as well as she is in Toronto. She can explain but I believe her GI is also
open to the triple abx, but may not be familiar with or have access to the trial.
At Mac I am with Dr. John Marshal. I actually have an appointment with him this Thursday, so I was going to give him the info and test results. The second place I was tested was from Dr. Zhang and PZM diagnostics - he's a funny guy. He's a pathologist. Not quite sure what to make of him, but none the less he can culture mycobacteria from patient samples. He is very interested in secondary infections in IBD patients etc. Here is his site:
crohnsmanagement.com/index.html He's quite friendly. Though his test is nothing like John Aitkens. With John's it's the direct images of the bacteria you get. Makes it hard to argue that it's 'nonsense' as some GI's might say, when you are staring at images of stained bacteria within your blood... I know he cultured mine as well and sent it off for genetic analysis because of some unique replicating characteristics as he says. Apparently mine replicate more like traditional MAP and TB type bacteria as crazy as that all sounds.
I tell you what, the other expensive part is also the FedEx fees. You have to overnight the bloodwork all the way to New Zealand to a lab which is in the middle of nowhere. You can use my FedEx account (corporate) if you want to get in contact with me. Will save that expense for you. It's about
$80 from here. Also be sure to send it on a Monday as 'overnight' actually means about
4 days to the middle of no mans land. As well, you may run into trouble even getting a sample of blood. If so there is a lady at the lab close to me (and you) that will do it. She's sympathetic to the cause.
I am not sure if his lab is doing the testing for the trial or not, but I believe so. He has a way to culture the bacteria within about
10 days versus the few weeks to months it normally takes.

I forgot the risk may be that we get a placebo?? Or is it set up that everyone actually get's the drug?
