Post Colonoscopy Diarrhea - HELP!

Hi -

I had a colonoscopy three days ago. Since then, I have had a lot of watery diarrhea, bloating and cramping. It seems to be even worse after I eat. My colonoscopy actually came back with great results that my entire colon was healed and I am in remission. So, I have no idea why this is going on?

Talked to my GI's nurse and they are just going to send me for stool cultures.

Has anyone ever had this problem or dealt with a similar situation?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated!!

After my last colonoscopy last month, I had very loose stools, especially every morning until about 3 weeks later. I ended up adding more natural soluble fiber back in my diet via foods. I was just about to add a fiber supplement, and then I suddenly started having well formed stool.

I'm still not sure what caused it but my GI said sometimes it happens and fiber supplement was a good idea.

It's common to have your system upset after a colonoscopy as both the svope and prep are hard on your system. It's been three days so it really should be settling down soon. A stool test for pathogenic causes to your symptoms makes sense, as it's quite possible to contract c diff from the hospital. We're more prone to these things, as it is. Good luck, I hope it settles down for you soon.

Quick Update - I started a bit of Imodium and Culturelle Digestive Probiotics twice a day. I have improved significantly and feel very good today. I hope this post can help someone in the future who might encounter this post colonoscopy issue.
