How long on them nightly? You are still flaring.

I dont remember honestly simce when but i cant go long before skipping a day mostly due to tiredness and go to sleep without putting it and suffering the consequences . How long would u recommend before tapering knowing that its difficult for me to be on them nightly in a constant fashion .
I am still flaring and the doc told me to learn to live with it . So trying to find ways on my own .
Ps im a medical student that feels tired almost all the time due in part to colitis .
Thanks

My doctor says no bleeding for 3 weeks before tapering to every other day. Stay there for 3 good weeks and then taper to every third day. The key is to be stable before you lower the dose.

Maybe time to talk about
changing oral meds if you cannot go without enemas. Asacol never worked for me but Balsalazide (Colazal) seems to do the job and I only use enemas as needed, usually when constipation causes problems.
My DX is left-sided UC but I'm looking forward to my next c-scope report being better, not scheduled yet.

Stay on them nightly for at least until you see no blood. At that time you will then focus on the bms...urgency...spasming..consistency...etc. go from there.
What dosage of mesalamine enemas?
You have a ways to go yet....use them nightly and keep us posted how you are doing.

Not everyone can successfully taper down enemas. I was on daily rowasa enamas for multiple years, as even reducing to every other day reintroduced symptoms.
