Colonoscopy report where they can't find the cause of inflammation

I had a colonoscopy 2 weeks ago due to symptoms of unformed stools that were bloody and the feeling like I never really was getting it all out. I also had discomfort/bloating in my lower abdomen.

I got a message from the gastro today that the colonoscopy confirmed inflammation but it's not clear what's causing the inflammation. I did a stool test and it was negative for infection. I've been doing mesalamine enemas to help control the symptoms and they seem to be helping although there is still daily blood.

They can't see me until a few weeks from now. Has anyone had trouble finding the cause of the inflammation and if so, what did you eventually find out?

The first scope I had, they found a little tiny spot of inflammation. That's where it all began for me. It was a sigmoidoscopy, so I was awake, and I remember her saying there was nothing much going on, then after nearly giving up, she looked around a little more, and there it was! She took a biopsy and it came back as proctitis.

Maybe the biopsy wasn't a good sample? What did the pathology report say? Have you ever tried any antibiotics? Stool tests are not fail-safe. They can be inaccurate...

I didn't get the pathology report, but I asked for a copy of it. She sent me a message through the patient portal today since I guess they just received the biopsy info. She said she took a few biopsies from multiple sites. I haven't tried any antibiotics. I only had bloody stools once/week before the colonoscopy but I've had them daily since having the colonoscopy.
