Is this like finding a unicorn? Today, I just filled my prescript
ion for generic, oral, delayed release mesalamine at my local Riteaid pharmacy: Mesalamine DR by Zydus pharmaceuticals out of NJ. It was just a $10 copay without the need for any patient assistance card. The thing that sucks is the list price is over $1,000, so this might not help those a whole lot who have a High Deductible Medication policy as it is still going to hurt until that high deductible is initially reached for each and every year. But hey, a little progress still counts for something by at least having a generic after dozens of years jeesh.
It says generic for Asacol and Delzicol on the printout from the pharmacy. Instructions say take 2 tablets, three times a day which are pretty much the same instructions as given for asacol, except these are 800mg tabs (more like asacol hd).
Truely a Kodak moment, and I'm such a nerd so here ya go:
