I have perinatal fistulizing Crohns colitis per Mayo, since I failed everything, biological, 5asa, and I mean everything my doc said yes for Stelara . I'm on pred right now for a fissure and up my asacol to 6 a day now. Waiting on insurance okay to move forward

Are you starting with an IV loading dose? I did not start with loading dose and it's been up and down for me. I got almost instant results but it would wear off within a few weeks. My insurance approved me for off-label usage in March and they gave me the Psoriasis dosage (45 mgs every 3 months). I think I would have done a lot better if I started on the CD dosage of IV loading dose and 90 mgs every 8 weeks.

They switched me to the 90 mgs over the past summer and it did seem to improve things for me but I had to stop because I needed to go for surgery on my hip recently. I'm hoping to restart Stelara later this month with an IV as soon as my hip heals.

Stelara has been the 2nd best biological for me, Remicade worked great for me for almost 5 years and then nothing else worked until I started Stelara.

Good luck. The shots are really easy (same as Simponi), much easier than the other injectables like humira and Cimzia.

Hi Keith, I don't know yet my loading dose, hopefully they get it right smile I will keep you posted. They had me try uceris this week and that has made me worse!! I'm back up to 40mg of pred, 6 pills of asacolhd, anything to help my fissure not have an abscess. I'm scared , I had surgery 3 years ago, it starts to heal and then opens up. I will know on Tuesday if I need surgery, they have saved me a spot in afternoon if I do need it. I have tried entyvio, humira,remicade and they did not work. As far as I know this is not a TFN blocker, doctor has told me and they are having good results. Fingers crossed

Have heard positive things about Stelara which is different than the other biologics. Hopefully this works for you!

sorry for your woes. this was me 5 years ago.
Tried just about everything. Prednisolone was my only friend along with 6MP. Gave up on the heavy stuff.

Did you need surgery?

Stelara is not an anti-tnf med, it targets IL-12 and IL-23 which help stop your body from producing inflammation. All those anti-tnf meds stopped working for me and actually gave me serum sickness. I had pretty good results with Stelara.

I'm still a few weeks away from restarting Stelara. My GI is trying to get the IV Stelara approved for me.

No, I had my TB test, getting that read on Monday. Maybe next week. I have a cold right now and Im going to do it when I am sick. Will be starting real soon though.
