Anyone in the Los Angeles area with a doc that's worth a....

Seriously. I've now been to 3 different doctors and each have been total douchbags. This latest guy takes the cake. Sorry for the colorful language but sometimes it's the only way to accurately describe the person you are dealing with. The guy I'm with now won't return calls even when he's asked me to update him - I'm having potential Remicade side effects. He splits his time between two offices and is never in. His protocol is as extensive as going down the list of meds any child could find on the web and prescribing them in order when he deems the previous to not be effective enough. Basically he's a prescription writer that loves to talk about the next step - surgery. We have the same conversation EVERY 5 MINUTE VISIT. Never mind trying to discuss the SCD or other potential natural remedies. I started this whole deal as a mild UC, who was diagnosed with C Diff 6 monts ago, and since the Flagyl, I've been stuck on Prednisone. In that time I've been through the ASA's, 6MP, and now I've been talked into Remicade (2nd dose). Wish I'd never gone down this road. Until this monster got to me, I weighed 170 lbs - now I weigh 140 and I dropped that weight in the last 3 weeks. I've seen little to no improvement from Remicade and I'm having low grade fevers, feeling like crap and coughing. I can't get the d bag to call me back.

Please if someone in the area has a doctor they like, please let me know. I live in the Vally and work near LAX. I WANT TO FIRE THIS GUY!!!!

I agree. The doc I had a consult with at cedars knew his stuff. He does original research there. His recommendation was super simple too, he told my doc to up my imuran. It really worked: of course he may recommend something totally different for your situation.
My gastro from the valley sent me to him when I asked about joining a clinical trial.

Are we allowed to use actual doctors names?
Its been years since I went to him but I bet I could find out what his name was.

I see two positive comments about Cedars Sinai. Hmm, I also would like to know if we're allowed to mention doctors' names in this forum? I was seeing a GI doctor in Long Beach--he's great! I will be seeing him again when I get health insurance. PM me if you would like to know his name :)

Thanks guys. At cedars now. Admitted to the ER following a high Remicade fever. 102.8. The upside is I met my new GI a week early. Stay tuned.

I have used UCLA's IBD center as well. The doctors are all listed online. There is some trade-off in seeing the more senior doctors as you might guess it's harder to get on their schedule. A real advantage for me is that a lot of my consultations are done over the phone. Some docs won't do that but with UC sometimes office visits can be real tough to make.
