Flaring for a few months, Doctor pushing Humara but I'm avoiding that now. Flare is better then when it started but I get nervous of what damage it is doing with mucus blood everyday. Not ready for the commitment of a biologic. I feel it is tolerable now for me to deal with but again blood and mucus every morning remains. Anyone have advice what they would do...

I had no choice but to move on and try biologics as I was sitting in a hospital in the middle of a horrible flare. All meds were failing and that was the next step. The constant bleeding I was experiencing was leading to never ending low iron issues so you need to keep an eye on things like that. Even when I had very minor bleeding, the constant slow bleeding was still giving me iron issues all the time.

Sorry you're flaring, it sucks. What medications and dosages are you currently taking to combat this flare?

I dont know if you need humira or not based on what ltitle you said in your post. Humira seems scary to us all at first, we always fear the worst case scenario. I am on a similar biologic called remicade and I've never experienced a side effect from it. I did find remission and this is the only UC med to give me remission.

I'm on Lialda (4 pills), last week of Pred taper (5mg) I was on rowasa but after stopping it and starting it again feel like it was making me worse, again I feel like it is tolerable to deal with now but never had blood and mucus for so long(few months)Diagnosed in 2002, was on 6mp about 10 years ago but had to go off after a year because it was messing with other things

I know it's scary but u do get to a point- usually when you're on the toilet and in tears and in so much pain- u feel u have no other option and just gotta give it a shot.

Once u make the choice and move on- if/when it works, you look back and think of how much your quality of life has improved and what u even did without it.
