My WBC was 15.91 range is 4.5 -10, so it's high would pred effect this?or low iron? I'm very low in iron. C reactive protein was at 1.0 range is 0.00-0.8 soc said that is okay. My lymphocytes are up and she said probably from pred. Not super high but for example lymphocytes absolute is 5.9 and the range is .09-5.0 after I'm off pred for a few weeks she said to retest. I feel so good right now in my colon like no inflammation, but my poop says another thing. I'm wondering should I start Stelara that's a BIG DEAL ya know? All my serum protein electrophoresis are in normal range. All immunoglobulins are normal too. Iron very low. Total protein normal. Does this all sound good? She was happy with it all. I trust you guys isn't that funny? Thanks!!

Pred can cause a lot of blood test changes, especially PLTs (platelets) can go sky high for younger people and also WBCs and lymphocytes, leukocytes. Was it iron low or ferritin? Because iron in blood is not useful to test at all. Ferritin is what you should test (but it may give false high readings if there are inflammation going on).

Blood iron level tells nothing about
real iron stores in body, you should check ferritin. But if CRP are high then ferritin test will give false positives. When I was flaring and was low on body iron stores , my ferritin came back as 80+ when in reality it was <10 (ref.range is >20)

I always have a high WBC on pred. In your case, yes, I personally would start the biologic. You've been struggling for many, many years and the situation is a vicious cycle that never seems to take a break - except when you're on steroids. Once you're off the pred, you will almost definitely be back to square one - sorry to be negative, but i don't see why it would be any other way after 15 years+ of dealing with constant flare symptoms. I don't think stelara is a huge deal, same as any other biologic really. No bigger deal than remicade, simponni, humira, entyvio, in my opinion.

True but all humors made me deathly sick and entyvioo robbed me of life! So I have not had a good experience

hmm, that's another story completely. I thought you meant big deal, like biologic, but you've been on them in the past, so I was like why? If you're worried about
horrible side effects, I don't know... I also had really bad side effects from biologics. I could barely walk on remicade my joints hurt so bad. I don't know what you can do. What are the other options? I know you did well on antibiotics for a while. Did you get a c diff test? Maybe you're dealing with something recurrent.

Seems like you're pretty anxious about
this whole stelara thing, why?
You're bloodwork shows signs of a mild flare. Raised WBC and raised CRP are suggestive of mild inflammation.
Are you taking any iron supplements?

The bloodwork doesn't look so out of whack to me (not a doctor, note). My husband's WBCs are always a little elevated, my leukocytes go up and down. I always wonder about
bloodwork -- probably get a better sense of what is real if you did it 7 days in a row and then could look at averages / trends.
If your UC is not under control and you need to get it under control and other biologics haven't worked, and doc isn't concerned with bloodwork, then Stelara sounds like a good option. My husband was soooo down on biologics because they didn't work and Entyvio made him feel terrible. But for him Xeljanz hit the spot and worked with no side effects so far. I think with Stelara you will know fairly soon if it works.
Good luck.
