I haven't heard of those symptoms from SCD before, including the muscle cramps and dehydration. That does not sound like a typical reaction on the diet. Have you checked your vitamin levels? I can understand some fatigue if you are eating almost no carbs, but aside from that you should not have a lot of fatigue on the diet. The fatigue may be there if you still have inflammation. Have you done a stool test to check for inflammation? Of course the colonoscopy would be even better.
Yeah, I know not all people on SCD get these symptoms. For some reason I do. And again I know it's from SCD because I've been on and off the diet over 20 times. I did have plenty of blood tests and they really only showed a deficiency in iron and hemoglobin levels. Unfortunately, iron supplements never helped, and it is strange because you get plenty of iron on the SCD diet from meat. And your'e right, shouldn't really have fatigue, because you do get plenty of carbs on the diet. I eat fruit and drink plenty of the grape juice, and even vegetables. It's something more to do with biochemistry of the carbs that is affecting me. As I said, if I cheat, those symptoms go away with the regular starches. I had done stool tests too, and the crp levels vary. If I keep taking the mesalamine enemas the crp level is basically normal. But that still doesn't get rid of the diet symptoms. And of course I've tried all the potassium, magnesium, calcium, etc, etc, supplement, but none of it works. If fatigue and dehydration were alleviated I would be okay staying on the SCD.
