imagardener2 is right on. My GI told me early on that "food doesn't cause a flare, but foods can cause symptoms, and symptoms can trigger a flare.
Food can also heal. My liver enzymes were sky high due to some meds I was using and I treated it with plain old milk thistle for 6 weeks----BOOM-----right back into normal range.
I had a bacterial infection and chose NOT to use RX prescribed antibiotics and instead used oregano oil and BOOM---3 weeks later, no infection to speak of.
All of our pharms originally came from natural sources. The word "aspirin" wasn't a coincidence. It comes from Spiraea, a biological genus of shrubs that includes natural sources of the drug's key ingredient: salicylic acid.
Even out strongest opioids come from poppy plants......
There are still many, many great things out in nature yet to be discovered. Let's hope one of them has a CURE and not just a treatment for the symptoms
EDIT:
PS
As much as I love alternative medicine, I have surrendered to the fact that I may just rely on pharms with no judgement on myself.
I spent an entire year trying every single natural remedy under the sun----TWICE-----to no avail. It was a mild flare and was just chronic mucus, but when it turned to blood as well a month ago, I called my GI and agreed to meds. Now, 3 weeks later using rectal and oral mesalamine? a week with ZERO symptoms.
Both have their places......I am never going to limit myself to only natural supplements again. I never should have allowed that inflammation to go on a year, as I now understand doing so is dangerous to my cancer risks.
