has anyone ever taken this and it had a positive effect on their uc? my dad has been railing at me for MONTHS saying it will "cure me". i personally think its all a big hoax. but i told him if i can find a handful of people who have tried it and it helped then i'll take it, otherwise he needs to stfu about it because his long rants about it are driving me nuts.

I have seen people post about colloidal silver and you could do a search for that but I haven't heard of colloidal gold. I think most of those types of things are hoaxes but I always seem to find people here who have responded to every hoax out there so I don't discount the possibility that anything might work for someone. It's also possible to have a spontaneous remission & people have gotten into remission while taking placebos so it's very hard to tell what was the cause of remission.

I agree with NSSG. the most random things seem to work for some people so maybe give it a try. at least if it doesn't work, you can shut your dad up and say that you tried it. i'd definitely have HIM pay for it though since he's the one insisting about it.

my dad believes weird things too but I mostly just laugh in his stupid face. I can't take anything he says seriously.

Not sure what to say other than there have been warnings of high doses of colloidal silver turning people blue permanently. I agree that since placebos can achieve remission in a small percentage of people then it might be possible for some of these weird treatments to also achieve remission, even though technically and medically they really didn't do any more for you than the placebo effect.

gary....my dad rants about how that guy with argyria was a hoax set up my pharmaceutical companies, haha! i actually did try colloidal silver for about a month last summer & it did nothing for me. so now my dad has changed his story & said he was wrong & i need to try colloidal GOLD now. he keeps insisting he's found all of these articles about its benefit to those who have ulcerative colitis...but even with all of my librarian skills i haven't been able to find a single one that is NOT written by a website with a vested interest in selling the product. i did search healingwell before making this post & didn't really find any success stories that way either.

bananagirl....oh my dad will DEFINITELY be paying for it if i decide to try it. i asked him today how much he pays for this stuff & he said $1500 a gallon!!! ridiculous!!

my mom & sister use colloidal silver to sterilize things like cuts & such & i do believe them when they say it works great for that. silver has been used to sterilize & treat infections for a long time (i would for sure use that before i would use an antibiotic again), but is the silver or gold going to fix my busted immune system? i highly doubt it.

Gold injections (in whatever form or what kind of liquid) was used for arthritis...no cures for it, however

Since there's no cure for UC, you'd be basically trying it for whatever reasons your dad deems possible for you.

Would I take it? no....but keep us updated how it goes for you

If there is a positive note to this it sounds like your dad is really trying to find something to make you better. Wow I think he actually understands. He is obviously really concerned and is reserching for you to find something to make your problems go away. I think that speaks volumes for what I am trying to say.

How many of us have another person in our lives who actually take the time to research things as if it was them with the disease?

I think it says a lot when you research the product and the only good things you find are all 100% traced back to people who are trying to sell the product. People put waaay too much credibility in these so called "testimonials". In fact, I would steer away from any product anywhere that even uses the word "testimonial". That word is a severe red flag in my book. First off, testimonials can be completely made up. Second, testimonials could be paid for, particularly "expert" testimonials. Third, testimonials could be written by friends and relatives. Fourth, any product or service has happy customers and unsatisfied customers. A particular product may have killed over 100 people but do you think they will put that in their "testimonials" section? No chance. You will find the testimonials of ten happy customers without one word mentioned about the 100 people who died using the product.

i know that my dad cares, but he has a messed up way of going about it. according to him its my fault i'm still sick & wasting money on prescriptions because the colloidal gold will cure me - i need to stop listening to quack doctors & get off all the meds already!

I think you mentioned that your dad took it but you never mentioned what he was "cured" of himself. You are in a little tricky situation. My mom was somewhat similar in trying to get me to try Colostrum but she didn't make me feel guilty or that anything was my fault (although she may have thought that). This was with my first autoimmune disease, not UC. I never tried Colostrum and I eventually cured my disease without it or meds. Bottom line is you have to do what you feel is best, whether that be to try it or not.

What does that mean? you have UC....but you believe you can totally get off your meds completely?  Is  it that your GI is a quack too? I misunderstand your statement....if it is what you mean, you are somewhat a product of your family's thinking process and believe this is somehow a fault and you can cure it too?

handful, my dad is the same!!! he is always saying I caused my UC and it's my fault that the medications are always making me worse. since his UC has been in remission for so long, I MUST be doing something wrong. drives me nuts to even talk to him because it's always about my illness and how "depressed" I must be.

gary...my dad had nothing that he needed to be cured of. he takes the colloidals daily to "be healthy".

quincy...those are not my beliefs AT ALL. i was just quoting what my dad says all the time. or sometimes uc is my fault because i ate too much sugar as a child. or because my room mate has a cat & the cat litter is unsanitary. pretty much whatever he is annoyed with at that moment is why i have uc.

its just really tiring because i do like to visit my mom & the dogs at my parents house, but every time without fail i have to listen to him rail on about colloidal gold being a "cure" for 30 mins+

Oh, whew....thank you for the clarification, because that's not the impression I got from you at all. Just needing to set my brain straight.

You'll eventually have them see (although not embrace) your belief (of reality) and go with YOUR flow and set your own boundaries.

I understand how your parents feel, because we all want our loved ones to feel better. But, it's their denial, not yours.

I'm not saying try different things, but keep in mind that adding some things to our bodies aren't good, regardless of the proclamation or accolades.

Hello hate to be a bubble buster....but I have had Left-sided Ulcerative Colitis since 22 and I grew tired of the crappy medication that made me feel worse. So I researched for years for a cure...and your dad is not a nut he's right I learned that Gold was used since Ancient times to help with intestinal problems. Also that colloidal Gold provided benefits for Colitis. I created a Tonic using Colloidal Gold and a few other herbs that I drink bi-weekly and now my Ulcerative Colitis is healed, ulcers are gone nothing left but some scar tissue where they were at. My doc told me in my last Colonoscopy that he was amazed with my results and that I was Lucky and it was Miraculous.

But we have to know when and how to use this. It kills viruses and bacteria, heals wounds, it is great for fungal infections and liver cleanse, it is antiviral and anti-inflammatory. Not every colloidal silver is great, you have to look for professional grade. I've used it for fever, cough, virus infections, sore throat. Works phenomenally. I am antibiotic free since 2012.

Hi soynomore,

Sore throats can be caused by viruses or bacteria. Sometimes bacteria can do the same. Sometimes is hard to say. Sometimes it is because of allergies, cold drinks... I used to take antibiotics before for everything and anything which was dumb. If I have to it would be only as last life resort. Colloidal silver is both antiviral and antibacterial.
