What to try next??

Hi! I'm new to posting on this board although i have been reading since February.
My current flare started Dec 25/16 (previously had a flare mid-Oct thru end of Nov '16 but didn't realize that's what it was! Dr was thinking "polyps" as colon cancer runs in my immediate family and there is no UC in my family) Was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis in Feb 2017 (sigmoidoscopy & biopsies) Started on Pentasa (max oral dose) in February. Beginning of April, I thought my symptoms were getting worse (starting to get "period"-like cramping) so went to my family Dr who put me initially on Asacol and after a couple of weeks, added cortisone enemas.
My Dr is great and very 'up' on ulcerative colitis since both her young adult kids have this disease. She is sending me to the GI her kids go to in Vancouver but my appt is not until July 18.
Even with the change to Asacol and enemas, my symptoms (number and type of bm's) seemed to be getting worse. However, my dr said my blood inflammation markers have always been low when tested, so she thought the side effects of prednisone outweighed its benefits.
This past Thursday, my symptoms got much worse. I started getting bleeding (previously never had this), lots of cramping, much pain, fever (alhough not over 100F) by each nighttime, and found basically anything I now tried to eat made me feel awful. This morning, I finally went to emergency (due to having 13 bloody bm's/day and feeling terrible) I was apparently not anemic and my electrolytes were still OK. However, the emergency Dr prescribed 50mg prednisone for a week (tapering after this) and to go back to my family Dr Tuesday morning so she can put me on a different medication since Pentasa/Asacol have not helped.
I am wondering what I should be trying next to get out of this flare?? Thanks in advance for your help! I'm feeling sad with how things have progressed over the past 5 months

I have had 2 stool tests (in October with my initial flare, and end of December with this flare)-- both came back negative.
My last colonoscopy was 3 years ago and everything was fine at that time. That's why the surgeon only did a sigmoidoscopy in February. He got into my transverse colon and said there was inflammation all the way up to there.
My pathology report from my biopsies says: all three specimens (rectum, sigmoid colon, descending colon) show similar features. There is a marked increase in inflammatory cells within the lamina propria, with crypt architectural distortion and drop-out. There is cryptitis and numerous crypt abscesses. Viral cytopathic effect or granulomas are not identified. There is no dysplasia or malignancy.

I was dairy, caffeine, fruit and alcohol free once I saw my Dr during my initial flare as these were some of the suggestions she gave me. I had been adding them back to my diet between flares. Caffeine free again at the end of December. I went gluten free in mid-January 2017 which seemed to help with bloating etc. After my UC diagnosis in Feb, I've been on limited dairy (some cheese, & yogurt to mix my probiotics into) and no alcohol.
Current diet: the only fruit I eat is bananas, and sometimes fruit "cups". I don't eat salad anymore, just cooked carrots. I've been trying to stick to chicken, sometimes pork & steak. Rice and potatoes had seemed to be OK. Eggs. No sauces etc. The only processed foods I've been eating are rice cakes, Rice Thins crackers, Rice Chex cereal. I've tried store bought gluten free breads but have found them to be yucky so haven't had those for quite a while. I have a " candy issue" but have even given up that the past 3 weeks! I have lost 30 lbs since this began in October-- 15 of those I could stand to have lost, but would have chosen a different method!
I was taking the enemas nightly for 3 weeks. Usually had no issues retaining them overnight. I did find I was having explosive liquidy d once I started them but I'm not sure if this was just coincidental to my worsening symptoms overall.

Try Uceris and 6MP.

My prescription for the Cortenema was only for 3 weeks. Since my symptoms got worse while taking them, my Dr didn't renew it. I will ask about getting a mesalamine enema. Also, I will ask about Uceris and 6MP.

I started the prednisone on Monday, so today was the third day of taking it. It seems to have decreased the bleeding which is good. I had also not taken Asacol Sunday and Monday. Tuesday, I only had 9 bm over the entire day. I went back to taking Asacol yesterday, and so far today I've already gone 12x. Is this just coincidence, or could Asacol be making my symptoms worse?

Unfortunately, my Dr is away on holidays for the next two weeks I am seeing a different Dr in the practice on Friday. Will see how that goes. I am also going to a naturopathic Dr tomorrow that my family Dr had recommended (a patient of hers who has UC that didn't respond to any medications, and they were discussing removing her colon, saw this naturopath and the patient is now 3 years in remission)
