White specks in stools ?

Hello everyone,
Have a query to anyone who can relate or knows what might be the cause of white specks in stools? It's not mucous, formed stools, normal brown colour but a few white specks all over. Sorry if it TMI! I've tried looking online but no clear answer & advice says it needs to be checked out as it's not normal.
Has anyone experienced this or has any insight?

If it's not mucus then the inactive-ingredients in your medicines are likely culprits. I've seen patches of white powder within my stools before, and it seemed correlated to the medication I was taking at the time. All medications include fillers, inactive ingredients that are part of each pill. They are just passed and don;t do anything useful.

How much of this white are you seeing? Is it consistent or just occasionally?

It's only been recently, I'd say three days now. Nothing's changed medication wise. It's definitely not mucus. I called my GI nurse to do a stool test to check for any infection or candida etc. Will send it off in a few days if still present, even if it isn't I will to be on the safe side.

Hmmm... I have this almost all the time and assumed it was part of the Apriso passing through. It's like little grains of sand scattered pretty evenly through stool. Not a heavy scattering, but it's more than just a few here and there.

^Little beads in the stool are common and normal with many of the mesalamine formulations.

FlowersGal looks exactly like that, they just in white. When I told my nurse she didn't have an answer & said it's best to get the stools tested.
Owleyes - do you think it could be dead candida? As for a month now iv changed my diet. No processed sugars at ALL, some natural sugar frm fruit. No processed foods etc.

If they are consistently shaped like little beads, then that's likely what they are - little beads from your medication.

From sulphasalazine? I've been on it for years, it's my first time noticing it in the last few days.
I'd say they are like roundish specks rather than beads.

Sorry, I didn't even notice in your signature that you've been on sulfasalazine. I caught the Asacol out of the corner of my eye and assumed that was what you were taking.

Sulfasalazine doesn't come with the little beads, so you're right, that wouldn't be it in your case.

No worries, I've had a search online & not had much luck.
So keep an eye out if it persists. Also will see what lab results will say.

Yes, mine are white specks too. Let us know if you find out what they are! We don't take the same mesalamine, so maybe it could be one of the supplements.
