Beginning symptoms

Hi guys!

I think I may have developed UC in the past couple days. Today is Saturday. I started with profuse diarrhea on Wednesday evening. It continued into Thursday. Thursday night I got up 8-9 times, with episodes of diarrhea, put small amounts each time. Friday I had numerous amounts of small bouts of diarrhea with STRONG urgency to go poo. Friday night I had less amounts. Today I've gone 5-6 times and it's almost 6:00pm.

No bloody diarrhea. Strong urgency to go.

I'm not sure if this is bad sushi that I had Tuesday night, or if this is an onset of UC.

Yep, don't jump the gun yet. Could be lots of things.

Definitely make sure your staying hydrated. If not able to drink much for any reason go to an ER and say your concerned you may be dehydrated so they can hook you up to IV and hydrate you.

The only way to determine if you have UC is by sigmoidoscopy or colonoscopy. They put a scope up to take pics and can see whats going on in your colon.

You likely have something infectious, a stomach bug, or travelers diarrhea. Dr Google can be a scary thing, and self diagnoses are nearly always wrong, so try not to freak yourself out and drive up your anxieties, if possible. There's many things that can cause diarrhea and IBD and UC are the least common reasons for that. I'd see if it passes in 3-4 days, if not see your general practitioner (primary care doctor) who can do a stool test to check for infectious causes, if found antibiotics often clear up the one time episode and then you never have to worry about it again.

Prior to my diagnosis of UC, I had a whole lot of blood in the toilet bowl (bright red toilet water every time for weeks), and that is the most frequent thing that sends us out to seek a diagnosis. As you do not have blood in the toilet water, then I'd say it is very unlikely you have UC.

Unless you have abdominal pain, mucous, or blood in your stool it just sounds like a bad bout of the runs.
