Uceris Foam withdrawal/taper?

Has anyone else had steriod withdrawal symptoms from stopping Uceris foam? How can you taper with only one metered dose available?

I was on the Uceris foam for 6 weeks. After two symptom free weeks, GI told me to go to every other day for a week and then stop... But 3 days into every other day regime, I was having bad withdrawal symptoms (aches, muscle pain, sensitive skin, chills, weakness). One week of alternate days is now over and I'm still symptomatic, so it doesn't feel wise to stop.

I thought this wasn't supposed to happen with Uceris foam--that it was not systemic. But I was also on an antibiotic during my course of treatment (zithromax, not one of the contraindicated ones), and I wonder if that could have affected my level of absorption.

So now my question is: how do I safely get off this medicine. There are no taper recommendations by the manufacturer.

(The good news is that I'm symptom free from my UC, and continue to be even on alernate day treatment.)

Sorry no help here. I do use uceris foam but never for 6 weeks and never any withdrawal symptoms.

You could ask your Dr for more and continue the taper. Its always nice to have on hand in case of future flares.
