safe brain function booster supplements

Hello,

I am looking for some advice - I think I need to start taking some brain function supplements, like gingko biloba or something similar. I am extremely cautious because I am afraid it might affect my UC (additives in food bother me).

Does anyone have any experience with food supplements of this kind? Which ones or which brands would you recommend?

sulfasalazine - 4g/day
Imuran - 15 mg/day
multivitamins (One A Day brand)

I've been taking "NootropX Advanced Nootropic Brain Supplement". I used to take Alpha Brain by Onnit which worked great but got ridiculously expensive. This is better because it works more consistently and doesn't give me the jitters. It has a lot of the same ingredients and you get a lot more for the money. I don't know how I'd function without nootropics.

Are you also taking a good multivitamin?

They banned DMAA on a technicality but it is back. 1,3-Dimethylamylamine is the only brain stimulant that also slows the gut. I like armodafinil but it does raise my blood pressure substantially. C4 is a nice jolt getting out of bed and no gut impact. So is K-Xr but I think it has ingredients that disagree with my intestines so scaling the use of that one back.

I've been taking Ginkgold 60 mg twice a day, breakfast and dinner, for a couple years and no symptoms either with UC or causing any of it's own. Haven't had any external bleeding in years after getting that under control (years back had rectal bleeding but wasn't taking Ginkgold then).

I am very careful taking supplements, many have caused problems both large and small for me.

Cutting out a lot of sugar will help brain function as sugar causes inflammation and that makes brain stupid as well as hurting every organ by inflammation. It's not always what you take that helps, it's what you don't take that can really help.

Also exercising, especially dancing, can really improve brain function. I'm going to start dance lessons again, just got over knee rehab (not due to exercise rather due to lack of it ha) just waiting for holidays to get over. I am dyslexic with dancercize things but better at partner dancing and will be fun with spouse.

Alzheimer's run in both sides of my genes so brain function is high on my to-do list.
