Here I sit 4 years post diagnosis. After rounds of testing different medicine combos, trying every diet modification, multiple hospital stays, following my colonoscopy yesterday ....my doctor finally told me those 3 words we all wait for "You're in Remission". 100% healed, zero inflammation, and a few pseudo polyps I'm waiting for biopsy results.
I'm not sure what tomorrow, next week or next year will be but today I'll celebrate a victory. Like many others, I still have unexplained days of diarrhea, gas, cramping that I may finally agree with my doctors as being IBS. I had years of IBS before my uc diagnosis so I guess it can be there after as well.
Wishing you all healing and remission as well whether through diet, meds or surgery. WE ALL HAVE TO BATTLE THIS DISEASE IN OUR OWN WAY. LETS JUST SUPPORT EACH OTHER AND RECOGNIZE OUR INDIVIDUAL BATTLES. I personally can't spend my life on a limited diet. That doesn't mean I don't believe diet can work, it's just not for me. Perhaps I lack the same willpower as others. I choose medicine. Perhaps that means I'm more of a risk taker. If I choose surgery in the future perhaps that makes me brave. We all have a dozen adjectives individual to our own life experiences. They can be interchanged for any person in any combination.
As always thanks for everyone's support and motivation.
