Hello so I don’t know if anyone else who has UC has had this issue before. But I have a really hard time keeping multivitamins down. They always hurt my stomach, make me nauseas, constipate me. I always look for the “naturally made” vitamins but it makes no difference to my stomach. Are there any recommendations for a multivitamin for women with UC. And do you guys also have this issue with taking acid reflux medicine. I’ve tried ranitidine ( I don’t know if that’s how it spelled) and it causes me diarrhea. Which makes it difficult to take because of not wanting to deal with diarrhea. are there any other acid medicine that has minimal symptoms.
Thank you so much for all your help. I’ve always felt alone on this UC path but it’s nice to know that there are others out there unfortunately going through the same thing but having a community where questions can be answered. Especially when doctors, gastroenterologists, and other people just minimize your disease or never seem to “find” why you’re feeling so “sick”.

The main advice that's usually given at first is to take them with food and to avoid vitamins that have iron in them. Have you tried either?

Are you on any other meds for UC?

I've had problems with multi-vitamins in the past, I'm currently taking MegaFood Multi for Women 40+. When I was looking for multis, they got a lot of good reviews about
not causing the nausea and I'm able to take them without food. They still have a bit of that yucky vitamin taste, but don't make me feel bad. Also, before UC (and still now) I struggle with acid reflux some. I've been on all kinds of prescript
ions (including ranitidine), most of which I'm allergic to. I've found that pepcid, though a very mild drug, seems to help.
Good luck!

I have never tried them but you can ask Dr. Google for a wide variety of options for LIQUID multivitamins or even chewables which might be easier on your gut.
Now with UC I have a sensitive stomach but I find that Rainbow Light brand to be very gentle.

my opinion is multivitamins, if taken at all, should be used sparingly -
when was the last time you had comprehensive blood work done ? were you found to be deficient in any areas ?
are you having any current UC symptoms ? are you on any other drugs other than Asacol & whatever acid meds you are taking ?

Just an important note regarding the symptoms you are having.....they are also symptoms of a flare, mild in rectummor limited in rectum. Consider to get on rectal meds....preferably retention enemas, and see if your symptoms improve.
As well....get tested for h. Pylori.
