Hello All - I was diagnosed with UC in October of 2017. Currently using Canasa suppositories at night as well as Colazal. My UC has been fairly well controlled with my current meds but one thing I have found disturbing is the constant blood in my underwear. Has anyone else experienced this and does this go along with UC? It seems to me that it occurs most often when I "pass gas" but that is not always the case. I've ruined more undies than I care to think about. Most appreciative of any info relating to this "condition". Thanks in advance!

Not that I know of. I have none of the pain, itching, other discomfort associated with hemorrhoids.

I never had blood in my undies unless I had an accident. Even if it was just a small shart, blood could appear in the underwear. I never had it happen without knowing though. Female issues can cause spotting too, so if it's that time of the month, that's another possibility.

It means your inflammation isn't fully controlled and you are flaring.
I suggest getting on 4g retention enemas....

Do you have the suppository in during these events? Because they can make things more slippery too.

If I am having a bad day, yes. It is often associated with lots of passing of gas and/or tenesmus, so there is lots of spasming that can expel stuff even when poop is not present. I expanded my period undies collection and now mostly wear black and navy, so nothing to be ruined.

Leakage makes me think of hemmeroids.

Farts causing blood/stool/mucus in our underwear is much more common with UC flares, farts aren't something we can totally trust when flaring: it's like playing Russian-roulette and sooner or later you'll definitely get a bad-roll of the dice. When experiencing this issue, it means you're undertreated and need more medications and/or higher dosages to treat the underlying UC inflammation. Once your UC is well-managed then that will no longer be an issue.

What UC medications and dosages are you on?

Colazal, 3 capsules 3x a day and 1 Canasa suppository at night before bed.
