How much does FMT treatment cost

I was just curious how much FMT costs in a hospital or outpatient setting.

Sorry can't help you on that as I am in Canada and it was free for me, even the maintenance schedule I am on now

I have never heard of it costing money. It's approved for c diff, and only cases where c diff doesn't respond to medication, so I would think it would be a covered procedure if you fell into that category.

There are some trials going on, those are generally free. There is no final evidence of FT being a treatment for UC at the moment, i've heard stories of people getting better, no response, and worse. It's hopeful, but not yet offered for UC alone, so if you want it for UC, you would likely have to find some sort of nautropath, who wouldn't likely have the means to offer it in a hospital setting, with a scope, or provide antibiotics. This is my opinion, not fact. A lot of people just do it at home for free, I can't see paying a natropath all that money to make you an enema you can make yourself.

There is one you can get in the Bahamas for $10,000. A friend who works at a pharmaceutical company told me about it. I think it's expensive because it's for anyone. In North America you can only have c. diff to get one or be in a trial.

I did a trial for FMT about a year ago but it didn't work for me whatsoever. I was already on the verge of remission but it put me 10 steps back for a couple more months before I got better again.

Dr. Borody in Australia does a protocol for UC where he gives antibiotics to kill fusobacteria, which he believes are the root organism for most UC cases, and then he follows it up with general antibiotics, followed by a series of FMTs given by colonoscopy. I only mention him because he has a very high success rate, but I think it's like $15,000 to see him if you're a foreigner.

My impression of FMT is that in the future it will all come down to the refinement of their donors. Every company and lab will eventually find the best of the best of the best who puts the most people in remission who they treat like gold by paying handsomely. The trial I did, they were not even paying the donor.

I’ve heard that FMT works for uc if you get the right donor and you do it everyday for months , you can do it yourself if you want to gamble , look on YouTube. Guy in there used his buddies stool and swears it cured him .

I did 12 and with each one I got worse. The doctor said just keep going but eventually my CRP went through the roof and I was bleeding horribly. I had to get a blood transfusion.

I hate it when you get bad symptoms and people say to keep going because it's just part of the healing process, when there is no proof of that at all. To me if something is a good treatment you should show improvement without getting a lot worse.

If you have to get a perfect donor and do it every day for 6 months only to not get sustained remission then what's the point.
