I don't know. Have to talk to doctors, as UC could have Cholangitis developing. I wanted to know about people's experiences. How is the liver disease developing? When were you diagnosed? Have you thought about giving stem cells a try, mainly for liver disease? Did you have any symptons?

Did you have mild UC symptons? Do you know if people with both have UC mild symptons? I know what studies say, but I wanna know about your experience.

They thought I had this, PBC or autoimmune hepatitis because my first symptoms of this heinous mega-flare was full body itching for weeks and elevated liver enzymes and antibodies. They couldn't figure out which one due to the overlapping lab results, so they did a liver biopsy, and it showed none of them. Eventually when more symptoms appeared, we figured out it was UC.

It must have been scary.

The fact that I have pancolitis and 760 eosinophils per mm³ of blood. Sometimes I have some pain for a minute or so on the right side chest and more rarely, itching. That's all. You think there's no reason to worry about it? What exactly do you feel (considering you feel anything)?

How will this cheer me up? URSO isn't a cure for PSC or PBC.

It's not URSO. Read again. It's nor-urso. And it's being tested.

In the study, which has now been published in the Journal of Hepatology, the scientists showed that nor-urso is clinically effective, safe and well tolerated. It works directly on the biliary tract and flushes toxins out of the bile ducts by increasing bicarbonate-rich bile flow. Says Trauner: "The active agent cycles between the gallbladder and liver and works precisely where the inflammatory processes are taking place, namely right in the biliary tract." The results suggest that nor-urso could also help to halt fibrosis of the liver and improve connective tissue. This will now be investigated in a clinical Phase III study, which will take about three years to complete.

I'll read it again this eve. If your ast alt isn't increasing... There's no reason to assume that it's PSC. Eosinophils can be caused by infection or inflammation....
You definitely need more liver enzyme tests done...

We'll have to continue with this later.

I see, but eosinophils have been a bit higher, like that for a few years. So it's not infection.

Hi....checked on eosinophils...not infection apparently.

Anyhoo...the article you posted is still a manufactured bile acid as is ursodiol.
It will be interesting to see the results, but I don't see cure since it's most probably autoimmune driven. As well a transplanted liver would develop it eventually....

I can see it slowing the disease.

i have no symptoms physically of PBC. I do have high B12 and some itching....but I've always had itching skin driven by nerve issues and dry weather.

AST - 10 U/l
ALT - 11 U/l
GGT - 15 U/L.

Normal levels of ALT ranges from about 7-56 units/liter, and 10-40units/liters for AST.

Normal range for GGT levels is 9–48 units per liter (U/L).

Forgot to ask Alkaline Phosphatase.

This one is 64. BTW, my B12 is 260.

For men and women older than 18, an ALP level between 37 and 116 U/L is considered normal.

Normal ranges of blood B12 levels are 200-900 pg/mL 

I think you're in the safe range.

Does PSC prevent you from digesting fat properly? I've always had a problem with that and my UC, even when I'm in remission. Fatty stuff tends to pass through and cause foul smelling stool.

If my liver enzymes are normal then maybe it doesn't matter.

That indicates something might be happening both in intestetines or liver. The best is get the enzymes and imagem diag. But how is it? Is the stool pale, like white? Does it flow or get stuck like glue?
