I'm sure stress has something to do with it!
My recent relapse, after 9 years remission, followed a one-year period of great stress. One incident though, during a bruising meeting with my school's chair of governors, resulted in me slightly soiling myself in the meeting! I had major runny poops afterwards. Sometimes I thought my relapse was just IBS.
I suppose some of the answer is to learn to manage short and long-term stress. Sometimes, before an expected stress like an exam, if it is possible to find time to use breathing techniques to 'psych yourself down', you might prevent the runs. Long-term use of calming techniques are worth a try too.
