Okay this has got to be the longest flare I have gone through. Its going on almost two months and symptoms are the same - diarrhea, cramping, pains, urgency.. but no blood. Oh and mornings are the absolute worst. I can literally hear what sounds like farts in my colon? Or water bubbles being popped? I dont know whats going on in there but it doesnt sound good.

I have already been weaning off prednisone and symptoms seem to be getting a bit worse since I hit 20 mg. I am so desperate to get out of this flare..

Any advice on how to speed up getting into remission?? I feel as though I have tried so many things but I am still open to all kinds of suggestions.

Sorry to hear you're still struggling. Flares can last months in some cases.

Can you remind us what medications and doses, and alternatives you're currently taking?

If you're seeing symptoms return as you taper down to 20mgs then you are going to need to adjust your maintenance medications: stronger doses (if not at max) and add more meds to your maintenance treatment.

Have you had stool tests done to rule out c-diff or other bugs?

I’ve been hospitalized got stool test for c diff all negative. I’ve been on iv solu medryl for a bout 3 days now and on an all liquid clear diet. I still feel no improvement. I am so desperate for this flare to go away sad

Have mesalamine or steroid retention meds not been tried yet?
If not, please consider.

I’m being put back on Lialda 4 a day. But i honestly don’t feel like the solu medryl is doin anything for me. If anything i am feeling a bit worse than when i came in and already on 4 days of the steroids.

No rectal they say it won’t help because the whole colon is inflamed. What’s weird is before i got to the hospital it was just bad diarrhea and pain but no blood now that I’ve been in been in the hospital a few days on meds and iv and clear diet the pains seemed to be getting worse and there’s now blood in my diarrhea sad and also my abdomen is super tender feels like is bruised in the inside

I don't think doctors should say rectal meds "won't work". They might not heal the entire colon, but in my opinion, if you can at least get some of it headed into a better situation, you could minimize your overall symptoms, and that's a good thing. Since you're in the hospital, I am sure you're getting the care you need. What are they suggesting? Have biologics been considered? They can pull you out of a bad flare up fast. I would normally say 6mp/imuran, but it sounds like you need something that will work faster. Cyclosporine as a bridge?
