I also did hypnosis with a very good practitioner (although was told I was not one of the easy ones to hypnotize haha) and although the subliminal tricks to reduce anxiety were helpful it really did not help my UC. Did help my tennis game however, better able to focus and concentrate.

I know for a fact that my UC is not mental, it has been physical all along. The anxiety came from the UC symptoms not anything else. The symptoms have always been physical manifestations of inflammation, once I figured out which foods made things worse my symptoms gradually went away. Not an easy fix or quick.

I think hypnosis or guided mediation is great and I have made my own tapes in my own voice to help with other areas. Should do it more often but life gets busy and frankly haven't needed the help.

But if it helps someone then sure try hypnosis with a qualified practitioner.
An aside: a school counselor was fired in my area for hypnotizing students without parents or school admin knowledge. One troubled kid committed suicide. He should have been referred to a psychologist not a untrained wannabe.
