I know that the OP is pretty old for this, but I just saw an interesting article on the efficacy of baking soda solutions in mediating immune response. The focus what on rheumatoid arthritis, but it's not much of a leap to UC or Crohn's, perhaps? Did anyone try this or have luck with it? Here's the article:
