4 months Remission

Hey guys, coming up to nearly 4 months remission now. It's my longest remission period for a while, as the last few years of flares have only seen me get to 3 months remission, then the dreaded disease comes back again. Fingers crossed I get to stay in remission long term, as I was in remission for nearly 5 years with my 1st ever flare, so I know my body is capable of long term remission. Currently on 150MG Aza, Highest dose of mesalazine and take the pred foam enema once every 3/4 days to just maintain remission. Had a fantastic 3 weeks in Asia with my partner recently and was in remission for it which was a godsend. Does anyone keep with the enemas for a while ? Or do you just stop it after a while ?

I am happy you're doing well. People do mesalamine enemas daily, or a few times a week indefinitely, but the steroids enemas, the goal is to get off them over time. Every three to four days isn't too much, maybe at some point you will feel confident that you can go to 1x a week, and someday change over to mesalamine. There's also uceris enemas, which might be good for transitioning off.

You're not in a remission if there's any steroids involved (the term remission in medical literature says you MUST be steroid-free). Glad you're feeling better, I'd suggest you wean off of the rectal steroids as they aren't good when used longterm.
