Man, this is tough. Trying to be patient with myself. They released me from the hospital on Friday evening. I thought I’d be fine to relax for a couple weeks and heal. While my body is all up for that, my brain is going nuts. I’m not sure if it’s just the long summer days or what but, these days seem eternal!
I’ve decided it makes all the difference depending on the the state of your health prior to surgery. I was so sick before step one that everyday after surgery I felt better then I did the day before. For step two, I was feeling really good, except for some annoying lame proctitis. I just have to keep reminding myself that things will get harder before they get better and this is a marathon, not a 5k fun run. As lousy as it feels right now, it’s a thousand times better then when UC owned me.
My surgeon wants me to blend everything up before I eat it, for a week, to try and avoid the whole hospital cream of wheat incident from happening again. I just haven’t been that hungry yet. Ive been drinking like crazy trying to stay on top of dehydration (craving pickle juice).
I am concerned that my output still looks like there’s a lot of blood in it. Does anyone know how long that’s normal? I honestly don’t remember how long it took to stop seeing blood on the first step.
