No allergic colitis is NOT UC. Both contain the term "colitis" but they are worlds apart. UC is a chronic immune condition where the immune system is attacking self on a continuous basis with no known reason or cause.
Allergic colitis is a lot like having Celiac disease, you are essentially normal provided you avoid the trigger food within your diet. In Celiac's, as long as they avoid gluten they are normal, no medications, no troubles. Allergic Colitis has a known trigger food for an individual, varies. Much as a celiac can have an almost immediate reaction to eating gluten, so can someone with allergic colitis.
As an example. The receptionist at my gasteroenteroligist's office was initially happy to have a grandchild and was showing me pictures of a happy infant. Subsequent visits she told me about how the child was sick and they were doing all sorts of tests (upper endoscopies, xrays, etc) and trying to figure out what was wrong with him (a faulty stomach valve, etc...). Turns out he was allergic to milk, as soon as they found out that and used a nutrient supplement free of it, the infant was healthy and the problem disappeared.
