For the last couple years since a hospitalization, I've been keeping close track of my symptoms and diet on a daily chart. I noticed that sometimes, my stool seemed to turn darker and more solid after I ate a meal of coconut shrimp with tamarind paste. That meal is the only time I ever eat tamarind, whereas the rest of the meal's ingredients are things I eat frequently, so it dawned on me that the tamarind might be helpful. Googling leaves me intrigued--apparently tamarind is used to treat both constipation and diarrhea, has "antimicrobial" properties, and is sometimes recommended by Ayurvedic practitioners for colitis. I'm just curious: Has anyone else experienced positive (or negative) results after eating tamarind? I'm going to start eating it more!
